PENNY ANDERSON'S LRPS PANEL

I started photography 3 years ago with a Nikon Coolpix 5000 digital camera. I bought the camera, started a City & Guilds Basic Photography Course at night school and joined Epsom Camera Club all in the same week! I have since upgraded to a digital SLR.

At the beginning I wondered whether I would ever master the various photographic techniques but gradually began to understand shutter speed, apertures, metering etc and when to use them. I learnt a lot from the many competition judges and other members of the club.

The RPS have workshops all over the country and you can see what other photographers are putting into their panels and get a good idea of what is required. The RPS show panels that have passed and you can put your own panel up and they will tell you if you have it right or where you can improve.

For the LRPS you have to submit 10 photos, not necessarily on a theme, but as a print panel they should gel together. The images need to show variety in terms of lighting and use of the camera and lens as well as in composition. The other most important factor is overall quality.
